Axel enrolled in our GED program on October 14, 2024, while also balancing the demands of a full-time job. With the busy holiday season approaching, he knew that his work responsibilities would increase, so he was determined to complete his GED as quickly as possible. Axel was able to complete his GED on December 11, 2024, demonstrating remarkable focus and perseverance. Axel’s next goal was clear: to continue his education and enhance his career prospects. He recognized that a certificate in Food Safety would open up new opportunities for advancement at his current place of employment. Despite the time crunch with the holiday season quickly approaching and a limited window to enroll, Axel took proactive steps to ensure he was registered for classes at Arizona Western College for Spring 2025.
Ivan started the program with us on August 19, 2024, Ivan set a goal for himself: to complete his GED as quickly as possible. In an extraordinary display of dedication and focus, Ivan not only completed his GED within a month but also achieved some of the highest scores we’ve seen in the program. By September 23, 2024, he had successfully earned his GED—an accomplishment that was a testament to his hard work and resilience. Upon receiving his GED, Ivan had several options ahead of him, he was unsure of the exact path to take. After careful consideration, Ivan made the bold decision to pursue a higher education and enrolled at Arizona Western College as a full-time student. Starting in Spring 2025, Ivan will work toward an associate’s degree in science, taking the next step in his educational journey with the same determination that helped him achieve his GED.
Angelica enrolled into the HEP program on April 3rd, 2023, with a clear vision for her future and a determination to succeed. Within just over a year, Angelica demonstrated exceptional drive and work ethic, ultimately earning her GED on May 15, 2024. From the very beginning, Angelica stood out as a studious and proactive student. She was not only focused on passing her GED but was also actively planning her next steps. Angelica’s goal was always bigger than just completing her GED. She was set on continuing her education at Arizona Western College to pursue a degree in General Studies. With her GED in hand, Angelica is now prepared for the next chapter of her educational journey and is beginning classes at Arizona Western College in Spring 2025.
Brenda enrolled into our HEP program on August 22, 2022. Throughout her time in the GED program, Brenda encountered obstacles that could have easily discouraged anyone, but instead of giving up, she remained steadfast. Whenever difficulties arose, Brenda took the initiative to reach out to her instructor or the HEP staff. Her willingness to communicate and advocate for herself played a pivotal role in her success. After more than two years of hard work, Brenda achieved a significant milestone: she successfully completed her GED on December 18, 2024. This achievement was not just a testament to her academic abilities, but also to her character and resilience in the face of adversity. Having completed her GED, she took the next step toward realizing her career aspirations. Brenda is now enrolled in the PPEP NFJP program, where she is actively working toward her goal of becoming a Nursing Assistant. She is diligently taking the necessary steps to prepare for the Nursing Assistant program, determined to continue building on the foundation she has worked so hard to establish.
Jasmine came into our program seeking to obtain her GED and pursue a career in the medical field. Jasmine was very enthusiastic about starting the program and stated that she saw her family as her personal strength and motivation. Upon completing her GED, she was able to register at Arizona Western College and was granted the Disaster Recovery National Dislocated Worker Grant and began classes through their Phlebotomy Technician Program.
Emmalena began classes with our PPEP-HEP program on August 22, 2023, and completed her GED on September 5, 2023. She was looking forward to completing her GED and enrolling into a Medical Assistant program through Regional Center for Border Health which she promptly enrolled into by October 2, 2023. Upon completion of the program, she obtained a job through Yuma Regional Medical Center.
Diana enrolled into our program on December 5, 2022, and completed her GED on January 24, 2024. During her intake she stated she was interested in enrolling in a short-term training such as Medical Coding or something related to social services but most of all, her preference was to obtain employment at a school. Diana was able to secure employment as a Migrant Recruiter within the Somerton School District
Blanca became a part of our program on August 23, 2022, and completed her GED on November 30, 2022. During her intake she shared her goal was to pursue a career in Administration in Agriculture and informed us of her expansive experience in agriculture. Blanca came into our office following the completion of her GED for support with her FAFSA application. Blanca registered at Arizona Western College to begin classes for their Agriculture Management Program and was offered Financial Aide.
Urian came into our office seeking to register for our HEP program and began classes on August 22, 2022, and completed his GED on March 28, 2023. When completing his intake, he stated he was interested in obtaining an Electrician Certification and/or enrolling into a Nursing Program. During his enrollment in our program, we were able to assist Urian in building his resume and provided him with job search tools. Upon completing his GED, he decided he wanted to pursue becoming an electrician and shortly after was hired for a position as an electrician through a solar company.
Francisco was enrolled into our HEP program on October 9, 2023, and completed his GED on December 19, 2023. Francisco had expressed an interest in obtaining a higher position at his current employment and for that he was required to obtain his GED. Upon completion of his GED, he was able to submit a copy of his GED certificate to his employer and was granted a raise.
